FrAndroid is one of the biggest Android sites in France, this equally goes for its forum. FrAndroid has a dedicated section within its forums called “Sony answers your questions”. In this forum, users can ask the Sony Mobile team questions every Tuesday between 10.00 and 13.00.
Once such thread from 18 February 2014 was asking about the availability of the Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Xperia SP. Sony Mobile replied in early March promising further details when they had confirmation. Well today they received that confirmation and it’s not good news. The team has said that the Xperia SP will not receive the Android 4.4 KitKat firmware update.
On the official Sony Mobile site, the Xperia SP’s support pages show that KitKat remains “under investigation”. So until we hear official confirmation from Sony Mobile’s press team, don’t take this as final, however the omens don’t look great.
